I can think of two good ones...
WINTOP.EXE - it's a Microsoft Windows 9x Kernel Toy. It will show you all
apps running and their threads. Also gives CPU utilization of each. Can be
downloaded from Microsoft's website (or from other sites on the web...do a
Google search for WINTOP.EXE). Don't know if this will run on Win2K/XP.
Owners of Norton SystemWorks (and I think Norton Utils too) can find the
Process Viewer application on the installation CD. This is not installed by
default, but comes in VERY handy. Shows all running processes (apps,
programs, etc) and allows you to kill apps and set process priority (in
NT-based systems). I have this app in my Startup folder and use it quite
often - especially to kill those errant apps that refuse to close properly.
Runs on Win9x/Me/2K/XP.
Actually three...
I use to use ResMan from Entech Taiwan. This app didn't quite list all
running processes, but it did have a "garbage collection" feature that
re-claimed memory from "leaky" Windows apps. Only runs on Win9x systems,
but came in really handy. Can be found at http://www.entechtaiwan.com/.
There also have some other neat utils (such as PCI List) and they're most
well known for PowerStrip, a video card tweaking utility.

Subject: [Ham-Computers] System utility?
I have seen the Task Manager that is a part of
Windows 2000 and wonder if any of you
know of an add-on which will display what
processes are running in/on a windows 98
machine?
Thanks de John
