[Ham-Computers] Converting Vinyl To CD

I installed the software that came with my HP rewriteableCD ROM drive,Easy CD
Creator. It has always operated just fine. Now I have purchased the full blown
Easy CD Creator Platinum Edition software package. This supposedly allows me to
record vinyl records to a CD.	
	
Q: Must I uninstall the previous version prior to installing this version or may
I overwrite it?	
	
Q: Has anyone gone from vinyl, or cassette tape, to DAT and then to the computer
sound card? This does the analog to digital conversion prior to the software
doing it. Is this acceptable or a no no?
