Hello,

Does anybody on this mail list know for sure whether it is possible to
use an USB printer to print in DOS?
One of my friends has an HP DeskJet 656c USB printer connected to his
computer running Microsoft Windows XP. He needs printing some documents
in MSDOS or in DOS Prompt window of Windows XP. On this printer user's
manual and CD-ROM disk with drivers I didn't see any information about
this question. I also looked at HP web site and again couldn't find any
info. I tried the old DOS commands like:

print somedoc.txt
copy somedoc.txt prn
or even
copy somedoc.txt usb001
without any success. The first two commands send the document to lpt1
printer port where another printer is connected. The last one is doing
nothing.
Has anybody have some info on this problem?
Thank you!
