This reminds me, the S-40A has a satin-chrome finish on the
loudspeaker grill. I found cleaning it can destroy it. I wonder
if its plating or paint. Does anyone know how to refurbish or
replace it? I think this is a different finish that the S-120.
Also, some Hallicrafters knobs of the S-38 and S-40 vintage
have metal trim rings. I don't think these were bright chrome
originally but I don't remember clearly what they looked like
when new. Has anyone found a method for refurbishing them? I was
thinking of one of those home plating kits and wonder if anyone
has had experience with them.

It seems that this portion of the front panel tends to either tarnish or oxidize and I have no idea of how to get it back to original condx without ruining the silk screened lettering on the controls.
