Good luck on the restoration and parts acquisition Chris. I picked up and
SX 42 today and am about to start on it. Is that the same coil that is in
the SX 43? If so I have a parts unit on the way and you will be welcome to
one. Mine is pretty much original with only parts replacement for minimal
repairs as it aged.

Pictures I have seen show all the paper caps as brown, wax covered types
that I have seen all my life. This radio has bright yellow Mallory
"Plascaps" in it rather than the old style. That sure threw me for a loop
when I took it out of the case. I wonder if anyone knows about them? Are
they "plastic" covered paper? I sure would like to avoid replacing all of
them if possible.

What I lack is the cover that fits over the variable tuning capacitors. I
hope someone has one that will share. While not to difficult to replicate,
it is a fer piece to the nearest shop that can do that.

So like Chris, I am begging.

I am restoring a SX-42 with lots of rodent damage. The metal top on the
second IF coil
(455 side) was rusted away. This is the piece that pushes down over the coil
form and the slug threads through it. Thanks od of the coil form is .3
inches. This was a very common part in old tv's and radios so maybe someone
can yank old from an old coil on the junk pile.
Thanks for looking
