I have all the manuals, schematics, errata sheets, transformer replacement
instructions and other items scanned in if anyone ever needs a copy. I can
send links to the files for anyone to download.

It's a nice looking transmitter. Why mine is missing the bezel is weird.
But for $75 I won't complain too loudly. lol

Subject: Re: [Hallicrafters] [Hammarlund] HX-500

The HX-500 was designed to compete with the HT-32 whereas the HX-50 was
designed to compete with the HT-37. Normal production of the HX-500 ended
in 1962 but on a visit to Mars Hill in 1964 I saw a whole line of HX-500's
on a table. Bob Belknap, Hammarlund Marketing Manager, explained they were
sold under contract to a South American Country. I did not get to look at
them close up to see what modifications (if any) had been done for the
contract. I assume they were several times the amateur price per unit.

I got a complete Manual for the HX-500 from W4AMJ in 1994 and made a copy of
it but the original was shipped to a VE1 who promised to copy and send back
to me. I never did get the original back although I tried several times. I
have several more original Hammarlund manuals that I am holding on to and
won't make that mistake again.

There is a HX-500 on the bay with a price tag of $1750.
