[Hallicrafters] restoring yellowed clear plastic fronts on SX-100 & SX-96 S-meters

Gerry,

My experience with these pieces is that the color is throughout this 
plastic.

The only ones that don't have this are indeed the Halli's with glass.

The plastic "lenses" i have taken out and replaced with Lexan sheet that 
I obtain from Hobby shops.

I've even taken a very old wall clock that had the glass finally crack, 
and replaced it with the clear Lexan.

It is impossible to "polish" the surface as a resolution, since the 
color is throughout the thickness.
