[Hallicrafters] Meter glass

You can drill glass. Very carefully.

Use a drill press, a carbide bit, very slow speed, very light pressure 
and use a coolant/lubricant bath on the bit and glass, kerosene is a 
good one, but be careful of a fire hazard.

Exercise common sense above all. Do it outside, have a fire extinguisher 
handy.

Wear eye protection. Have several spares, your going to break a few, or 
try it on some old window pane glass first to get the technique down.
