Another good place to buy is Hayseedhamfestco.com. They will make up an
exact replacement for you. Not the cheapest place but they do great work if
you want to keep your S-77 original. They may be closed for a couple of
weeks in memory of the passing of one of their employees.
I go along with the use of an isolation transformer when working with this
radio. Note that a "Variac" is not an isolation transformer. The best bet
is a properly installed 3 wire cord set. Not original, but the safest way
to go.

Hi Scott, I recently finished two S-51s, While there may be places to buy
the old style 'can' caps, I leave the original in place, and after
disconnecting it, replace each section with a modern electrolytic, under the
chassis. MUCH smaller and more reliable.
All the old, waxy caps in these 2 radios failed a leakage test (horribly)
at their rated voltage.
Lots of places to buy caps from Mouser, to eBay.....

hello guys wonder if you can give me a little insight
looking to re cap the radio
one of the electrolytic is listed as a 60-20-30 mfd
150 v
if I understand it correctly that means there are 3 caps inside the
electrolytic
what do I do buy one of each and twist the leads ? and solder in place
I would also like to know the style of caps to replace the tubular paper's
that
are currently in the
unit .
the problem I am experiancing is a decrease in volumn a station gets tuned
in
and slowly the volumn
goes town
and afte a while it will increase again
it is a gradual change each way
any ideas ?
