[Hallicrafters] Orange Drops at CDE

I just buy my caps in bulk. Don't really care where they are made ( just wish American companies would make some) or what color they are.
If they pass my HV test they are good to go.
Interestingly (??), when on a trip to Tokyo one time, I went to Akihabra (Electric City) with the intent of REALLY stocking up on caps. Only found one small vendor. He had a dozen or so .01 ufs. Quite disappointed!!

Subject: Re: [Hallicrafters] Orange Drops at CDE

To the best of my knowledge, Orange Drops have been available continually
since their inception and were still made in Barre, VT on the original
Sprague equipment by SBE until recently when Ed sold the line to CDE. SBE
also made the Vishay Orange drops and labeled them for Vishay according to
a friend who worked for both Sprague then SBE.

Looks like CDE bought the works. Someone else posted a message to one of
the groups from CDE about a delay while the equipment is moved from VT to
Mexicali.

Other than US jobs, the good thing about having them made by SBE was that
they would make custom runs in different values, even different colors. A
few years back on these lists I tried to drum up interest to get some
batches run(specific values/voltages, axial vs radial leads, etc) and was
told "Why bother when there are other companies selling stuff that will
work?". Learned my lesson. In the bigger scheme of things. apparently the
owner did, too.
