I just monitor my signal on the receiver I'm using. If for some reason I am not on the same freq as the other guy the local key clicks are enough for me.No matter if I'm using a bug straight key or keyer.

You can also turn on a spare RX. With no antenna it ir the RX you are using for tge QSO should monitor quite nicely.
