When I went to an audiologist for help with tinnitus, which is more 
severe in my left ear, she asked if I ever shot trap or skeet.  I said 
"yes, when I was a teenager and no one knew anything about hearing 
protection."  She asked if I shot right-handed and I said "yes," again.

She replied that my right ear was against the stock and thus protected 
while my left ear was not and that was likely why the tinnitus was worse 
in my left ear.
