The USPS is trying desperately to compete with UPS and FedEx in the area
of package shipping. The volume of first class mail has declined so
precipitously that they are loosing their a** handling it. I feel
certain that soon most mail will be transmitted electronically and
letters will become a thing of the past. The credit card companies are
pushing to send statements by email and get payments electronically.
The USPS Priority flat rate is a great deal if you can put enough weight
in a box.
