[Hallicrafters] Source for caps

You won't find most original values today.  Modern capacitors follow the same tolerance values as do resistors.  For example, a 0.02 mfd capacitor is now a 0.022, a 0.03 capacitor is now a 0.033, and a 0.05 mfd capacitor is now a 0.047.

For the multi-section electrolytic most people just put modern capacitors under the chassis disconnection the original can.  Then, you can leave the original capacitor in place for "looks".  Modern electrolytics are much smaller in physical size than the old ones.  There are those who are making replacement multi-section capacitors.  However, those are usually a "bit" more expensive than just putting the new ones under the chassis.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] Source for caps

I'm not sure where to find caps for my S-38B. I have the manual with the list of caps, but I'm unable to find replacements with the same values. Does anyone have a cap shopping list from a S-38 they've done? What about the large multi-value cap?
