I think most of them had that number stamped on them.? I've got a few out in the shed i should look at.? B&W also made them along with Hallicrafters, that i know of.? Maybe Johnson did as well.

Taking your lead, I looked up some BC-610 web pages & pics & this looks like a BC-610 coil. Also one of the sites mentioned that one of their BC-610 coil sets had a part number that started with "51C".? Guess that's pretty well identified then!

 Thanks!

I tried repairing that part of some old BC-610 coils years ago and did not have any success.? However i have heard others say that it certainly was possible and they knew someone who had done so.? Guess it was in my procedures!

Other than one mangled banana pin, it looks okay. I wouldn't want to squeeze the coil to see how strong the plastic is, of course. If a coil still has old plastic holding it in the proper shape, I think one can usually cobble up new plastic supports without a whole lot of trouble.

Sounds like a BC-610 coil as the freq range you mention is right in line with
their coil coverage. One of the coils goes from 8-12 Mc and the next step is
11-14. Is it in good shape? Most of them anymore have the coil support plastic
  rotted away.

Found at local parts store a large transmitter plugin RF coil set, labeled only
  with a stamped "51C711". It
has about 8 primary turns and a rotating secondary of 4 turns (if I recall
  correctly). Cermamic strip has 5
large banana plug pins, two connected to the secondary. One of the pins needs
  replacement (I think I have
one that will fit).? The Web search only turned up National Stock Number links
  indicating the part is for
  11 - 14 MHz and is from Northrup-Grumman.? I think that's because N-G bought
  Hallicrafters at some point in
time.? I assume the coil I found belongs to a Hallicrafter's transmitter, or was
  a Hallicrafters product
for homebrewers.? Does anyone know which is the case?
