[Hallicrafters] More SX-100 Help Needed

I have solved my problem of pivot/rotate the Hallicrafters emblem to
access the mechanical adjustment screw. Some one in the past evidently
got frustrated with trying to move the emblem and got out the big
hammer. They broke the emblem off its pivot and then glued it back on.
I did slip an Xacto knife blade under the emblem and gently worked it
around the circumference. The emblem came off and reveled the glue
underneath. Mechanical zero is now established. I only have to figure
out how to put the emblem back on without repeating the glue problem.

When this came up I already was not in a good mood. I had turned on my
HP606B signal generator and 8708A synchronizer to start the alignment on
the SX-100. I couldn't get phase lock on the 8708A so it would
stabilize the 606B. After going through the problem for an hour or
more, I was ready the pull the covers and start trouble shooting the
8708A. Before I did that I checked the two RG-58 jumper cables I had
recently purchased and found a short in one or both BNC connectors at
the ends of both cables. Trusting that luck was on my side, I cut a
connect off and checked it for a short. The short was in the other
connector. So, I had to put a new connector on both ends. Probability
came through for me on the second cable and I cut the shorted one off.
That cable needed only one new connector.

Anyway, the S meter is zeroed and the 606B is locked at 50.75 KHz. I am
ready to start the alignment.
