Hi all,
As you may remember, I bought a Hallicrafters HT-30 a couple of months
ago which had some modifications and an external power supply built by
the previous owner. (see it on my website w0ybs.com ). After digging
into the thing, I ended up having a new power supply built to go back
into the original spot. Had it built by Heyboer Transformer. I will
elaborate on the new power supply in a later posting. I pulled out all
of the add-on mods which appeared to be just that, add-ons. Replaced
about 6-7 tubes that were bad. Didnt appear the circuits were really
modified to an extent that I couldnt get it back to square one. I have
now completed my restoration as far as a refinish of the cabinet, and
rebuilding the modified circuits, and replacing a half a dozen paper
caps. Lo and behold I turned it on yesterday and no smoke or explosions.
I was ecstatic. My next step was to load the thing up. I hooked up a key
and pressed the lever. Bummer, nothing!!! No power output, no meter
movement, no change in sound or humming. This is the biggest project I
have ever tackled and am no electronics guru by any means. I am reaching
out for some suggestions as to where to start looking for the problem. I
know it could be numerous, but any help to get started would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks-Bob-W0YBS
