See the cover of QST, March 2001, for a picture of the HT-6 and SX-42 side by side. Regarding another response you received, the HT-9 is the "big brother" of the HT-6; same cosmetics, just physically wider (maybe deeper), more meters, more knobs, more power, etc. Either one would go great with your SX-42. :-)

Fellow Hallicrafters enthusiasts, I have a question for the group. I am rebuilding an SX-42 back to life electrically and cosmetically along side an R-42. My goal was to match it up with a transmitter, hopefully a Hally version. I realize the SX-42 is more of a general coverage receiver but I assume that some used the ham bandspread as a ham receiver. Was there ever a period matching transmitter for the SX-42? I see the HT-32 is similar cosmetically but I don't believe the years match up.
