I looked at a 1948 ARRL Handbook and at a Radio
Handbook of the same date. The SX-42 was definitely sold as
a deluxe general purpose receiver with its CW ability
stressed. It was the successor to the SX-28. The SX-43,
the more economical version is illustrated with a BC-610 and
possibly the Hallicrafters VFO. The only transmitter
featured at the time was the HT-9, a low power one. I am
not sure of the dates of production of the HT-19 and HT-20
but they are a fair match for style and period.
Hallicrafters seems to have been concentrating on receivers
right after WW-2 and developed their transmitter line later.
