[Hallicrafters] SX-117 WHAT IS IT?

Many thanks to all who emailed comments on my mystery SX- 117.  



I've checked the wiring again and my "sloppy" comments may have been in hast e.  The wir e bu ndles are neatly done with individu al  small yellow t ie wraps  



4 small 3/4" squar e transfor mers have P/N 050-200735 



Filter caps ar e mfg by Nippon-chemi-con and disc ceramics by N ichicon.   A few of the micas a re by Mirata. 



Tube sockets have t he look of  being Japanese manufact ure. 



I'm not su re the se import component s were available during the production  dates of the SX-117  but if they were would H allicraf ters have used them in a pre-production radio. 



It is either a darn good  home brew clone   or a pre-production Hallicrafters; I'm straddl ing the fence on that one.  Will be gladt go send ph o tos to those who ask to help me to decide which side of the fence to end up on.
