Thanks Nick, Joe, and Tom for the replies and the constructive guidance and
advice!

I think that a combination of advice given is in order.

The power transformer didn't show any signs of meltdown nor did it give off
any odd smells. Hopefully it's ok. If not what is the alternative?
Rewind? Is Gary?? still rewinding these? Anybody aware of any equivalent
replacements Dahl or Hammond or? Quickly perused the Antique Electronic
Supply site and didn't see anything directly compatible. Let's just hope
that mine is a-ok!

Yes, 110 vac. for sure. I meant that instead of 117 vac in my original
email! For sure a bucking x-former is in the future and have looked at
several schematics online.

Correct. Archer was associated w/Radio Shack. I need to get more info on
this x-former although I will likely replace anyway. It appears to be
sturdy and well made but it's what's inside that counts! Thanks for the
tip on the Hammond universal. I'll check 'em out.

Line cord has been removed and power (at any level) will not be again
applied until at least the following has been completed:

   1. New three prong line cord
   2. New fuse
   3. Replace C41, 42, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 51, 52 (all filter caps and
   audio caps)

Next, I'll follow Tom's advice and unplug all tubes, insert AC into the
x-former at a lower voltage and measure outputs. If a-ok then increase and
measure again. If all ok and x-former determined to be ok then begin the
remainder of the recap and re-resistor task wherever and whenever
applicable. If x-former not good then research and measure possible
options for repair/replacement.

Nick - I like your advice (remove rectifier and power-up) but will get the
same data with even less risk using Tom's method, right?

Thanks again everybody for the advice - - and the links!

I understand that patience is more than a virtue in this hobby and that
work must be undertaken in stages. Fortunately I am not in any hurry to
get this restoration completed.

I will get the caps that I need and check back in once I have recapped the
filter and audio caps and have determined the condition of T7.

Best 73!
Jon, kb9wvk
