Hi Nick,
I'm coming to the conclusion all SX-28s had a stop between band 1 and 6 like you mentioned. I looked closer at my 28A w/o the stop and discovered that there was a stop there but it had ben bent (forced) downward. Now a question: can I remove the balls, plate, etc. at the back of the shaft without having ball bearings roll away in order to fix the stop (bend it back and maybe silver solder)? it looks like it is held by a snap riing and two screws (and be care full of the indexing). Have you done this repair? Thanks.

Yes ,there is a stop between band 1 and 6.However,I've found many SX-28's on which the stop which is on the end of the band shaft broken or flattened by previous owners to allow 360 degree rotation of the band selector control ! As far as the dead band1 is concerned check the continuity of the all the RF transformers on band1 .Another quick way to check is to allow connect antenna directly to the mixer grid see if you hear signals

Subject: [Hallicrafters] SX-28A Band selector
Hi, I've been tuning up my SX-28A and have a couple of questions. Is there a
stop (or should there be) on the band selector between 55-1.6 MC and 21-42 MC.
I'm maybe missing a stop if there is one. Second question: Suddenly I lost
reception on the 55-1.6 MC band (band went dead). A suggestion on what to check
would be appreciated. Thanks.
