We had a fantastic time today during the weekly Saturday 40 meter Net! Sorry
"YOU" missed it! A lot of vintage gear, always fun to hear different TX and
transcievers and share observations among the various owners. Be there!

Tomorrow is the Sunday 20 meter HHI Net. It runs from 12:30 - 2:00 PM
EST/EDT or 1730 - 1900 UTC.

The frequency is 14.293 MHZ USB +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and
adjacent signals wide enough to park an aircraft carrier on!

Unfortunately, my just repaired AL-82 legal limit amplifier is back in the
critical care unit! She arrived here on Thursday. K1ND, Dr. Jan, wired her
up and I got the TX ready to go. Everything looked perfect. Then he flipped
the switch from "standby" to "operate". Then started to turn either the
plate or load knob. No exciter power was ever sent from the TX to the amp!

SNAP! The replaced resistor in the voltage equalization circuit involving
the eight 450 VDC electrolytic capacitors and eight resistors opened up!
Then we heard that HV snap and just shut her down.

Apparently niether Jam or Jim did an on the air test before bringing the amp
back to me. I guess they thought the blown resistor they replaced was the
reason why the plate current was not staying at 3600 VDC as it should be. In
any event, she is back in the emergency treatment room! Sigh -

Thanks to all of you who took the time to write me about enjoying the
reprint of the tale about my oldest grandson educating Gramps. I am glad you
enjoyed it.

Hope to hear many of you tomorrow!
