[Hallicrafters] FPM300 bandswitch question

Greetings all,
My FPM300 is now powering up without issues (smoke)  I pulled the front cover off to replace the dial cord that was in place of the toothed belt.  I found a toothed belt for the bandswitch on eBay.  The cord worked surprisingly well, but I pulled the dial cord off, only to find one of the toothed pulleys was missing and a brass gizmo was in its place.
In looking for a replacement pulley, I stumbled upon gears for RC cars, have not been to a hobby shop yet to see if one might work, but thought I would toss it out here for suggestions.
