I just picked up a second Hurricane, so far it rx's and everything works. No tx audio and I have to replace/repair three meters on it. once this is done, then I will clean and refinish my 649. Regards Richy N2ZD

Absolutely, Richy! First one I've seen, megathanks for making it
available to us. Had trouble downloading it so Johnny 'JN fixed me up
with a complete file. Now we just need to get some of the gray switch
condoms and we'll be set. Wouldn't mind buying more than I need if it
makes the bulk purchase work. Pretty sure Johnny could use a couple
too.
I've made your point many times over the last decade in regards to the
scarcity of the Halli -649 family vs. the SX-88 and even the SX-73,
which it closely resembles. Makes me think of a LF version of the -73
in Battleship Gray. They certainly didn't build many, and last I knew,
fewer than a dozen have been accounted for. And as your posting on
'fone outlines, the gov't apparently saw fit to dump the majority off
a barge into the ocean like they do with tanks and other items. Maybe
the Treasury Dept and Coast Guard look at surplus differently?
It sure is a cool receiver, and the quality is excellent. A true joy
to use, but with the steel panel and cabinet, no fun to move.
