[Hallicrafters] ARO AR8000 unblocked

Dear fellow Hallicrafters lovers,

 

I have what was a wonderful all band receiver, the AR8000. This AR8000 along
with the dog and the cat got me through a serious three week bout of
pneumonia 14 years ago. The scanner would still be entertaining me, had I
not left some Kirkland batteries in it for too long. I hate myself for the
stupid mistake that I knew better than to make. The scanner did work for a
time after the leaking batteries, but I finally had to send it to ARO in
Torrance for repair. ARO said the tri-laminated circuit board was damaged in
the middle layer and the radio was not repairable.

 

I am asking the group here if they have ever dealt with such a radio and
problem and if in fact this radio is not repairable, would someone have any
advice and or be interested in the radio for parts? It has the car charger,
AC wall unit, belt clip, original antenna, leather case ($30), unscratched
screen (that is an accomplishment), operation manual, and all the original
paper work. Purchased from Grove Enterprises, Inc. June 25, 1996.

Let me know immediately if odd attachments come with any e-mail I send. It
is a new advertizing game to "hijack" the e-mail addresses on one's computer
sending adds and attachments one would not send. Be certain to delete any
other addresses when forwarding my e-mails to others.
