Alodine takes a little practice to get a good finish, but the learning
curve is not steep. I've used the "Aluminum version" for reconditioning
Aluminum parts and it left them looking like a new gold finish.

Fortunately WD40 is mostly solvent, but it does leave an oily residue.
Unfortunately not enough for a lubricant. <:-))
I purchase it by the gallon which is both cheaper and more efficient
with no over spray! If I need a penetrant and lube I use LPS-2 (sparingly)
