[Hallicrafters] S 76 Question

Gents,

There was a thread on the S-76 on the old reflector many years ago, before
qth.net.  I posted a document which I can't currently find but the point
was, not only are there the two versions of the S-76 (with & without knob
skirts), but there is a third.  There are versions with two slightly
different sized skirts.  I have all three here but have them inaccessible
for the moment.  The difference is about a quarter inch in skirt diameter as
I recall.  I learned this when looking for a replacement for one of the
larger skirted knobs, got one through the reflector and it was smaller as
demonstrated by the wear pattern on the radio face.  I have since acquired
the third version.  As I recall the order was, no skirts, smaller skirts and
finally larger skirts.

I have examined a few 76s with antenna trimmers but upon close scrutiny, the
additions were always non-factory.
