[Hallicrafters] Cleaning the inside of HT33A amplifier

I've had transformer coated tar on pieces before; not a lot of fun but doable.
I've used both the popular "Goo Gone" products as well as Acetone.  Both needa well ventilated space but with cu-tips, some patience and a few backgroundfavorite DVD's and that HT-33A will clean up as well.  You have to use the basic principle of Geology: time and persistence.
I have an 33A myself which was upgraded to using the 8295A.  One of the changeswas the addition of two more VR tubes as illustrated in the HT-33B.  
The 8295A appears on the E place for about $400 when an Italian surplus sellerhas the urge.  I bought one myself and it came pristine in original packaging; fromNATO Air Force Base there in Northern Italy.  The oil capacitors are on the webas well. Reasonable but costly mailing from England.
I have noticed that some of the nicer HT-33A restorations have eliminated theHV rectifiers tubes AND its associated HV rated filament transformer in favor ofthe silicon plug ins, a variac mains control and upgrading of components whichmight be affected.  Run at modest levels, the 33x can be fit for lifetime service.
