Why do some people just have to ruin a good piece of great with  
irreversible modifications?  I have passed over many  desirable items for my 
collection simply because of a non  OEM hole in the rear chassis panel or cabinet 
back, God forbid, the front  panel.  
 
As we all know, back in the good old days, most matching speakers sold for  
$19.95 or thereabouts. Of course, back then, that was a budget buster and 
I'm  sure the number of matching speakers sold is far outnumbered by the 
number of  receivers.
