I moved to the 4th call area in 1973.  The FCC had been running back through 
the W and K4 call signs
since the late 1960's.  I was issued K4JRB in mid 1973 and my friend K5RFJ 
was issued W4LUH in 1975.  I remember Tava in Huntsvile got K4AEB in 1965 or 
66.  I am certain in W4DSE was open back then it would have been issued in 
order.
