Jim and all
All copper wire plated or not becomes "un-solderable" after time
I use just a speck of soldering paste to correct the problem
A small tin of it costs about a dollar at any of the diy hardware stores in
the plumbing section
The one on my bench today is Rubyfluid soldering paste. There are many
others
Before attempting to solder any wires in a cable like SO cord I dip the ends
in the goo.
Difficult oto solder old circuit boards? Dab of goo. Old radio connections?
Same treatment.
And, stick that soldering iron tip in there periodically it will keep it
bright and shiny and extend the tip life.
