The "cabinet gray" is the fairly light gray that was used on the HT-37, SX-111, etc., cabinets

For the silver hinged lid on the equipment a good aluminum paint matches very well.  You have to remember that over the decades the original silver hinged lids have gone extremely dark.  If you look at the units pictured in the Hallicrafters advertisements when the equipment was new, you will see that the hinged lids are very bright.  Therefore, when actually restoring the equipment to the original colors you want to use a bright "silver" finish which aluminum colored paint gives.

I just needed clarification on whether the term "cabinet gray" refers to the hinged lid gray/silver color or were there Hallis with a true gray versus black cabinet? I am trying to redo my SX-42 cabinet with correct colors and don't want to make the perforated cover too bright from original.
