[Hallicrafters] Piesoelectric effect case in point

Hello guys:
I just got home and left right after my post. I have no problem with
anyone, so no apology is needed. I just felt the dialogue was getting to a
point where a new guy would be afraid to tackle any kind of restoration. My
feelings was, problems being described rarely if ever would appear to the
average new guy wanting to restore just a couple or handful of radios in his
life. Just using common sense, safety, and managing your resources wisely
can and will produce excellent results 99.999% with minimal time and cost.
In fact, it would be great to post a: as complete as possible list of things
to do and not do when restoring our old rigs, to be used by new commers.
(I'm talking about Y caps on the AC inputs, fuses in the primary (if not an
AC/DC set), polarized 2 wire power cord if an AC/DC set, 3 wire replacement
power cords in transformer sets, resistor measurements and replacements
maybe with larger wattage units to keep size the same, types of resistors
used, cap types and where they should be use, NP0 caps etc, voltage size to
be used in electrolytics, etc. Tighten screws, be aware of cleaning of
printing of dials with solvents or water. You know, stuff like this.
I'll end by saying, if I offended anyone, I apologize too. This is a hobby
and we should have fun within it.
Lee, w0vt
