Skip,

It isn't going to work.

Even aircraft cables have lubricant in them.  You can "try" a 10 ga butt 
wire splice and crimp it to hold.  I don't have good feelings about it.

Nylon kite string *may* be able to tie one to the other and pull it that 
way.
