I happen to own a copy of the manual also .The one I have describes an EARLY SX-28 with 6SK7 tubes used for both RF stages(later the 1st RF was upgraded to a 6AB7) and a SINGLE ended output using one 6V6 to save battery power. The front panel had a metal tag on it saying 'MODEL SX-28 FCC'.
A picture is also shown in COMMUNICATION RECEIVERS book by Raymond Moore .Chuck Dachis doesn't have any picture in his book looks like he doesn't own one ?
The RID (Radio Intelligence division) and FCC used these rcvrs during WWII to monitor the airwaves .
Also own an SX-17F rcvr which uses a single ended 6F6 output .Been looking for a manual for that with NO luck so far !!
Regards,
Nick

I had heard that in the past and have seen references to that on the web
ut my manual marked SX-28 F.C.C., that included a schematic, shows a
air of 6V6's in the audio output. Never owned one of these receivers so
nly going by the documentation.

The SX-28 FCC model had a single 6V6 audio output tube, as opposed to
the
push pull 6V6's in the
regular production radio. I know. I have one. Silver faced no less.
Any body
interested?
