The comments I have read so far on this matter have all been pretty subjective. The real measure of the "quality of a receiver" is the sensitivity, selectivity, gain, and S+N:N ratio. The only way to test this performance is with calibrated test equipment. So to settle this issue those who own the various rigs in question should take them to a second party with calibrated equipment and get the rigs tested. Then post the results. We can build a database of the results and settle the question. Any one living in the Kansas City area can bring their rig to my shop and I will test and post the results, NO CHARGE. I would encourage all who have the proper equipment to do the same in their area. The tests are simple and can be performed without getting inside the rigs.

All human achievements are empty and disappointing when pursued as ends in themselves.
