It moves the pointer.
I never had to work on mine so dunno about access....guess you'll have to
look at it and see.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] SX-101 Question

Over the weekend I picked up a very nice SX-101 MKIII with great
cosmetics. I am going to re-cap it over the next few weeks. One thing
that puzzles me is the "Pointer Reset" knob. How does it work? Does it
mechanically move the pointer or does it do it electrically by shifting
the local oscillator freq? The reason I ask is that the shaft appears
loose or disconnected over about a 45 degree rotation with hard stops on
each end of the rotation. What's involved on getting access to the
mechanism?

This is my first SX-101 and am looking forward to getting it up and going.

Thanks,
Larry W4LK
