[Hallicrafters] SX-42 Pedestal?

Was there ever a really beautiful Hallicrafters radio?  Depends on the  
eyes of the beholder as the old saying goes. I used to think the '57 Chevy was  
the uglist thing next to a Studebaker. Have you priced one lately (if you 
can  find one for sale)?  I own over 250 Hallicrafters products and I have  
always thought the '28 and '42 were among the best looking.
 
Like many of you, I used to look at the late '40s and early '50s Allied  
catalogs and lust after the '42, HT-17 and '18. Unfortunately like many, I was 
 in junior high school and had no big bux so spend on radio gear or 
anything else  for that matter. Now I am reliving my childhood, but have some money 
to pick up  and play with all the radios I couldn't afford back then.
