Having shipped TWO (2) SX-62A receivers via UPS, I think I'm qualified to
report on this.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, USE THE "UPS STORES", nor BUBBLE WRAP, nor PEANUTS,
nor anything else that can compress or shift.

At the UPS "CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTERS" (the large terminals), most carry a
form of packing material that's simply WONDERFUL. It amounts to
catalytically-activated foam "pillows". These are kept warm, in a specially
designed "oven", and when removed, are smoothed out, then the catalyst
"pack" inside is broken, and the material mixed together INSIDE the plastic
bag that it all comes in.

You use a LARGE one on the bottom, then set the radio down on top of it -
use smaller sized ones on the front, back, and sides, then another large one
on top. Now seal the box, and ship with plenty of insurance. I've shipped
these radios to California and New Jersey (from Denver), with NO damage,
whatsoever. The best part, is that the box and packing are REUSABLE, as
they become a "custom fitted" shipping case.

NOTE: Not all UPS CCC's have these pillows, but the Denver office in
Commerce City, CO DOES always have them.
