Knob Function And Layout For The SX-117
Hi,
Well, lets "see" if I can get them described right, in the
right place.
On the left, there are 3 knobs, vertically arranged. The
top one is R F
Gain, the middle is Crystal selector, the counter clockwise
position is
"normal", then positions 1, 2, 3, and 4, for extra crystals.
The bottom
one of the 3 is the preselector. It has a vernier knob, with
a pointer
behind it. 10 meters is the counter clockwise end, 15 next,
both are quite
narrow, then 20, a little wider, and 40 is not quite straight
up, maybe at
about 11 o'clock. Then 80 is at about 12 o'clock, to 2
o'clock.
Just to the right of the preselector is the phone jack, then
the Band
selector. 10 meters is in 4 sections, 29.5 is the furthest
counter
clockwise, then 29.0, 28.8, 28.0. 21 is at about 11 o'clock,
14 at 1
o'clock, 7.0, 3.5, and WWV at the end.
Next, at a slightly lower centerline, is a smaller, knurled
knob, the
calibration reset. It's a small variable cap, to adjust the
VFO freq. to
agree with the dial calibration marks.
Front center is the large tuning knob.
Now, starting on the right side, it has the same
arrangement, 3 in
vertical line. Top is A F Gain, middle is Notch Frequency
which is OFF at
the clockwise position. Then it runs from 50 kc thru 51, 52,
53, and 54 at
the counter clockwise end. Bottom one is Selectivity.
Clockwise end is
0.5, middle is 2.5, counter clockwise is 5.0 kc.
Just to the left and down, is another smaller, knurled knob,
the BFO
adjust.
Next, larger knob is the function switch. Clockwise is LSB,
next is USB,
then AM, and Counter clockwise is OFF, the power switch.
Then, between the function, and the main tuning, is another
smaller,
knurled knnob, clockwise is Calibrator, middle position is
Noise Limiter,
full Counter clockwise is OFF.
ON the back panel, there are 4 RCA jacks. and one 5 screw
terminal strip,
on the left end. From seft, the terminals are, 500 ohm, 3.2
ohm, ground,
ground, and receive standby. then RCA jack for VFO output,
line cord, fuse
holder, RCA jack for crystal oscillator output, RCA jack for
LF antenna,
and slightly higher, the last RCA jack for regular antenna.
There are
empty holes, probably for an SO-239 coax jack, but not
factory installed.
Then the ground post.
Hope that will be clear enough to get you going.
Bed time here, have fun.

Al, W8UT
