Bob,

I think that there is an article in an old Electric Radio about the system
that you mention with the R388s. Someone bought it from Fair complete as a
trailer unit and went on to restore it. They must have made thousands of
BC610s in 10 years and I am sure that some of them landed in this island
during WWII but in all my years as a ham I have never found one. The lack of
basements or attics here do not allow a lot of storage so I guess that those
BC610s that landed in the hands of some local hams may have been discarded
years ago. That plus the fact that there are only a couple of hams
collecting BA gear here and I am one of them.

Guido - That transmitter was made for over 10 years and its radio system was
up graded several times. In the late 1950s when I was in the Signal Corps
it was used in a RTTY system installed in a radio hut on the back of a duce
and half [2 1/2] truck pulling a PE75 generator. Used a pair of Collins
R-388 receivers for diversity reception.

Those were the days. :-)
