I have to agree with this. For best heat transfer the tube shield really needs to be dark on both the inside and outside. When the shield is "shiny" there is a tendency for the heat to be reflected back into the tube rather than being dissipated.

Let me throw out an idea here and see how many people can shoot it down. Polishing tube shields might not be the best idea for heat transfer and tube cooling. What about using something like gun bluing to obtain a deep blue or black color which would improve radiation.
