[Hallicrafters] Polishing Tube Shields

Let me throw out an idea here and see how many people can shoot it down. 
  Polishing tube shields might not be the best idea for heat transfer 
and tube cooling.  What about using something like gun bluing to obtain 
a deep blue or black color which would improve radiation.
