Acrylic paint normally dries harder than most lacquer and enamels. At least those that come in spray cans. However, although acrylic paint dries "to the touch" in a very short period of time it really doesn't fully harden for at least 48 hours. In fact, I don't really like to handle the repainted cabinet for about 72 hours, at least that long before returning the equipment to the cabinet.

The Krylon on the HT-32 and, I think, on my Ranger is soft and very prone to chipping, but it is cheap and easy to use both of which weigh heavily.
