Hi Bob,
It seems to me Bob, that almost all of the men who became famous for
inventing a product, discovering something in medicine, seeing a moon
circling Jupiter, building a horsefree carriage etc. are said to be thieves!
One wonders as to who truly discovered or invented what!
Many of us, including myself, did invent something only to have it stolen by
a large corporation that we had no way of fighting for its ownership.
Generally speaking, a copyright is rarely worth the cost of the ink used by
the pen to sign the papers! When an item crosses a state line, or worse yet,
leaves this country, the rules change! All that protection is useless or not
enforceable or nobody is willing to defend the little guy's legal rights.
I still chuckle when I recall an incident that happened to me in March of
1987. I was treated in a hospital emergency room - problem is, nobody
examined me or ran tests or anything else! So they wanted to releaseme, as I
had the Flu. Making a long tale short; I had an infected appendix that was
on the edge of rupturing. They did admit me, but insisted I had a kidney
stone.
My appendix ruptured, I nearly died etc.
I wrote the administrator of the hospital after I was released and detailed
the list of blunders. Meanwhile some medical legal sharpshooters got my
letter, and somehow my medical records, and contacted me about filing
litigation etc.
The attorney who wrote to me said that there was solid evidence of several
medical blunders and I had a no contest medical lawsuit worth at leaset one
hundred thousand dollars plus. He then gave me the names and contact info
for several other lawyers who might handle my case, as he did not handle any
cases where the settlement would be a minimum of a million dollars!
I still have that letter and get it out every now and then to have somebody
read it to me again. I am not a song writer, but maybe I should try my pen
at one entitled "Color Me Green, As The Law Is Gone!"
