The Canadian 5 cent coin from 1943 to 1945 was a special Victory design
that had a large letter V as the main design element on the reverse
(tails)
side. Surrounding the V, near the edge of the coin, were marks
(denticles)
in a circle in morse that spelled out "We Win When We Work Willingly"
The obverse (head) side had the usual head of the monarch, in this case
King George VI

Due to the wartime shortage of nickel, the 1943 coins were made of
tombac,
a brass alloy. In 1944 and 1945, they were made of chromium plated
steel.
