What leads you to think your filter might be defective?  It's possible 
but not too probable.  If you have problems in that area, it's more 
likely your oscillator crystal has drifted off frequency.

Normally, the carrier oscillator is set about -20 dB down the filter 
skirt.  Due to age of the crystals in the oscillator and filter, this 
may or may not be the same as that marked on the oscillator crystal can.

There is a procedure in the manual to set the carrier oscillator frequency.
