Best to contact US customs. Generally there is free trade between Canada and there is no duty on receivers.
In Canada we just have to pay the tax - this is different than "duty". (~15% GST/PST)
When I asked the US customs folks about selling a radio to some in the US and bringing it across the border for them
they said there was no charge as it would be a personal sale. They indicated they get lots of ebay traffic this way.
If it was a business, then it would be a different story.
Now, using the couriers is a different story. They will likely charge you brokerage fees - even if there is no duty.
This is their charge for filling out the paper work.
Best to either - send it by mail or pick it up across the border.
