-----------
Man I did love that place. I would skip school & ride my bicycle from East Independence over to the warehouse on Mercier. Quite a feet for a 12 year old. I still have much of the stuff I bought there, & a few old catalogs after 40 years. When they put a store in the Independence center I was in heaven, now I had a reduced need to skip school(the best stuff was still at the warehouse).

Next up was Magee Radio, & Henshaws.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] Rice and Glow

I think Mr. Penson, who wrote the book on Heathkits, put it very well - the
Yaesu FT-101 put Heathkit in the grave, and a few others too.  I have
several rice-boxes, and they work just swell.  I do however, love the smell
of burned-dirt, capacitor wax, warm phenolic, and resistor-bakelite as well
as any of you, but I must admit - ALL of these critters have their places in
this wonderful hobby of ours.
